“Perfect trip, would definitely go again”

I took a 3 day adventure trip with American Wilderness Expeditions and had a blast with Jamie, the owner. He was fun, energetic and even cooked my meals for me. He took me to some awesome slot canyons, Druid Arch and spent hours hiking around The Needles District. Perfect trip and I would definitely go again. Jamie is young, knowledgeable, energetic and loves to experience the great outdoors with people. I wish him the best. I highly recommend you take a trip with him!

“Top notch guide”

This was a trip of a lifetime! We booked the "Canyonlands" in Moab Utah The natural beauty of the area was overwhelming, the night sky was exquisite! The Milky Way popped off the dark sky, something I had certainly never seen before. The hiking was challenging and fun! Our guide Jamie was top notch!! He is professional and confident, he knew the trails very well, leaving my group feeling very safe and at ease to enjoy our trip. We are a group of women aged 44-64 so... Jamie had his hands full with us!! He made the hiking fun and interesting, exploring the best places to sit for lunch or just take in a view and snap a few pictures. Jamie was mindful of our strengths and weaknesses and was very patient!! The food was delicious, we had the BEST dinners and an awesome assortment of healthy snacks to keep us strong while hiking. His packing tips were spot on! Follow his list, he is an expert camper!!
I am already planning to take my two teenage boys next summer! Go book your trip! You will not be sorry, it will be your trip of a lifetime too!

“Views left me speechless”

This was my first backpacking trip and what an ideal first time it was. Jamie was incredibly accommodating and clearly has a real love and understanding for backpacking with others.

Never thought id be able to experience such a beautiful landscape in such solitude, but this made it happen. Left me speechless and I can’t wait for more American Wilderness Expeditions in the future !

p.s Jamie can cook !!!

“Venture into the unknown and have a damn good time in nature”

Jamie is an incredible leader!! He took myself & 5 pals on our first ever backpacking trip. He was so informative of our plans & what to expect on the trail ahead, we were stoked about each new sight to see. Our trails were challenging, but the company, our accomplishments, the views, & every aspect of the beauty of nature made this trip a never-forget feeling.

I’d/I’ve recommend AWE to anyone looking to venture into the unknown, want to trek the challenge & have a damn good time in nature, with good people.

“Ive Never Felt More Alive”

It was a last minute decision to go on this backpacking trip and little did I know what a life changing experience it would be. It was a hard push to the top, but an indescribable feeling once you got there. Jamie was an excellent tour guide especially since this was my first backpacking trip. We started by going through our backpacks completely, familiarizing ourselves with our stuff and very smart of him to show us exactly what everything was and the best place to store it. This proved very useful on our hike for easy digging to get what you needed on a quick stop. Jamie made us feel like pros in no time. We began at a serene meadow and the rest of the way until our lunch spot was mostly shaded. We settled for our first lunch next to a creek. Nothing better than dipping hot feet into a cool creek. Yes, your feet dry fast enough to put your socks back on and you feel revived for the rest of the trek. The rest of the way after lunch is a steady incline and not for the faint of heart. Our camping spot made it all worth it, on top of a dome, with a matching globe view of the stars. Our eyes feasted on constellations while we devoured very delicious campfire grub prepared by Jamie. I’m not kidding, it tasted divine. Jamie provides all of your food, which proved just as nutritious of fuel as it was delicious. (I actually returned home and grocery shopped for the same lunches and snacks) Jamie showed us exactly how to pitch the tent, also much simpler than the movies. The next day we made our way to the top of El Capitan and then to Eagle Peak. I won’t try to review it here, words are not enough and photos won’t do it justice. Our second night, our souls and bellies were full once again. The way down is one grand victory lap, filled with recalls of the best views, most grateful moments, reliving all the laughs. It was an experience I miss all the time and can’t wait to do again. I’ve never felt more alive, and both humbled and triumphant. I’m so glad to call Jamie a friend.

Pro Tips:

  • Break in your boots before you go and you definitely need hiking boots

  • Follow the camping list, it may look short, but Jamie has it down pat and you don’t want to carry more than you need

  • Women: feminine wipes will change your life

“Highly Recommend”

Our group had a mix of new hikers and experienced backpackers, Jamie did a great job of making sure everyone felt comfortable and prepared regardless of their experience level.
I️ had been to Yosemite several times before, however, this trip made it feel like my first time in the park. The path we took was absolutely breathtaking, and not over run with day tourist like a lot of the other areas of the park. The hike was definitely hard due to the steepness, so make sure you pace yourself and keep up communications with Jamie if you need a break. He did a great job over checking in with everyone throughout the hike. Regardless of how tiring the hike up was, it was completely worth it when you see the views from Eagle Point and El Cap.
I️ would highly recommend American Wilderness Expeditions to any of my friends and/or family.
