Why Take The Adventure

Actually Small Groups

At American Wilderness Expeditions "small" doesn't mean what it means for the other guys. 12 people on a trip does not make for wilderness seclusion. I take no more than 6 guests on any given trip. Keeping it small means we all can enjoy more solitude, flexibility, and fun!

The Adventure Is Yours

This is your vacation, don't worry about following someone else's itinerary. Do you want to wake up early and catch the sunrise on the mountains? Or stay up late counting all the stars in the Milky Way. Scramble up to a peak? or take a relaxing soak in a picturesque mountain lake. My hope is that no two trips are ever the same, and guests feel the freedom to make the trip theirs.

The Hassle Is Not

All permits are taken care of, all the food is provided and cooked by me, the essential gear is waiting for you at the trailhead. Top quality packs designed to lighten your load, 2 person lightweight tents, sleeping bags and pads to sack out on after a day on the trail. Water filters so you can sip from a cool mountain stream, and snacks for on the trail hunger. All that you need to bring is your clothes and your appetite for adventure.

Meet Your Guide

My name is Jamie St John and I am the owner, operator, lead guide and perpetual employee of the month of American Wilderness Expeditions. I have spent hundreds of nights at camp and hiked thousands of miles in terrains varying from the high deserts of Arizona and Utah, The Sierra Nevada Mountains of California, the Green Mountains of Vermont, Rainforests of Washington and Alpine ranges and Tundras across Colorado and Wyoming. I have also studied land navigation with a former member of the Army’s 75th Ranger regiment, so you know theres no getting lost when you’re on one of my trips. I am also a nationally and California certified EMT so you know you’re in good hands on the trip. I have a deep love for nature and sharing its wonder with new people and I wanted the opportunity to allow others to explore this beautiful country with me. As an avid outdoorsman I also enjoy kayaking, skiing, mountain biking, rock climbing, and cracking a cold one in the wild. If you have any questions at all about my trips please do not hesitate to contact me at AmericanWildernessExpeditions@gmail.com I look forward to hearing from you and seeing you on the trail!
